Every element of the flag carries meaning. The red field represents the blood shed in defense of freedom. The white field reflects the purity of sacrifice. The blue star honors families who carried the burden of service, while the gold star recognizes those whose loved one never came home. Beneath them rests the folded flag presented to grieving families, and above it burns the eternal flame of remembrance.

George is the founder of the Honor and Remember organization, and the creator of the Honor and Remember Flag. He started the movement after the combat loss of his son, Army Corporal George “Tony” Lutz II, who was killed in Iraq in 2005 while serving with the U.S. military.
In the aftermath of his grief George jumped in a RV and drove around the country speaking to other Gold Star families, and he heard an important reoccurring message. The families all said they didn't want their loved ones memory ever forgotten. Those conversations gave light to what is now a highly recognized symbol specifically dedicated to those who died in military service and the families they left behind.
George created the Honor and Remember Flag and built a national movement around remembrance, fallen service member family recognition, and legislative adoption efforts across states and federally through H.R. 1363. Over the years, the organization has presented thousands of personalized flags to families of the fallen and built partnerships across sports, corporate, and civic organizations to expand awareness.
Chris served as team leader to Corporal George “Tony” Lutz II, and was there in 2005 when Tony made the ultimate sacrifice. That experience became a defining part of the rest of his life, and of his connection to the mission of remembrance and support for Gold Star families. Chris retired in 2018 as a Master Sergeant, and Army Ranger who served in Psychological Operations, and the Intelligence Community.
Following his military career, Chris worked as a government contractor and then transferred into the private sector in 2020. He completed Columbia Business School's CEO program in 2025, and then transitioned into leadership focused on strategy, organizational transformation, marketing, and AI driven business architecture. Today, he helps lead the national strategy behind Honor and Remember, the Declaration of Remembrance campaign and efforts supporting H.R. 1363.
His role within the organization is centered on helping modernize and scale the mission through awareness campaigns, partnerships, national adoption efforts, and long term infrastructure designed to ensure America’s fallen are permanently remembered.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Erin Whitney served alongside Corporal George “Tony” Lutz II and Master Sergeant (Retired) Chris Pollitzer during the Iraq War. Tony’s sacrifice left a lasting impact on her life and helped shape her commitment to ensuring America’s fallen are never forgotten. When Chris asked her to help support the mission. She signed up.
Erin served more than 20 years in the United States Army, retiring in 2017 after a career that spanned Psychological Operations, special operations support, interagency coordination, and strategic influence operations around the world. During that time, she deployed multiple times in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, supported Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, and became the first woman to command a tactical Psychological Operations company.
She later served as Executive Officer of 5th Psychological Operations Battalion (Airborne), completed an interagency fellowship with the Department of State, helped establish the Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications, and oversaw Psychological Operations activities throughout the Indo-Pacific region while assigned to Special Operations Command Pacific.
Today, Erin serves as Director of Operations for Honor and Remember, where she helps lead the organization’s nationwide efforts to honor fallen service members and support Gold Star families. Her work focuses on operational execution, volunteer engagement, flag presentations, Texas operations, and expanding awareness of the Honor and Remember mission across the country. She also assists with West Point admissions in East Texas and serves as Co-Chair of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Veterans Committee.
We are building the infrastructure for national remembrance. Through coordinated state adoption, institutional alignment, and community-level execution, the organization is transforming remembrance from isolated acts into a unified, scalable system. This work extends to the federal level through HR 1363, which seeks to formally recognize the Honor and Remember Flag as a national symbol of sacrifice. Together, these efforts ensure that recognition of the fallen is not episodic or symbolic, but continuously reinforced across the country through policy, education, and public engagement.
